How to Make A Leprechaun Stick Puppet
Once the templates have been cut out I sometimes like to reduce the number of steps for the children by prepping some of the pieces before I do the activity.
You might like to pre assemble the hat, shoes & socks, face and beard and the body. This will reduce the number of steps but still give the kids some control of the construction of the Leprechaun puppet. But it’s up to you.
I have listed all steps separately below so you can decide what will work for your students.
Leprechaun Puppet Instructions
Step -1:
Print and cut out the patterns from the provided template for the Leprechaun puppet. Trace the template on selected colored craft papers.
I’m used green for the hat and clothes, orange for the beard, cream for the face and hands, pink for the nose, brown for the boots and orange for the socks.
Step -2:
Stick the boots to the socks (strips).
Step – 3:
Stick the hands with the arm parts of the Leprechaun clothes.
Step – 4:
To assemble the hat stick the hat band, black strip, and buckle, black square on yellow square. Then stick onto the hat template.
Step – 5:
Stick the beard on the bottom side of the face cutout. Add a bit of texture to the beard by using wool of cotton balls! We found some cool craft alternatives on Amazon…
Next then add the nose and the hat and draw on a mouth and eyelashes to create the Leprechaun’s cheeky face!
Step – 6:
Attach all 3 parts, head, feet & body, together to make the Leprechaun.
Step – 7:
Attach the Leprechaun papercraft to a craft stick. Your St. Patrick’s Day Leprechaun Puppet is Complete!
