Robot Math Games Equipment
Our colouring robot math games are low ink and low prep. To play you need:
- Print off Template 1 per student
- 6 sided dot dice
- 6 markers red, blue, yellow, green, purple
Colouring Robot Game 1
This robot math game template can be used for practicing subitizing and identifying & the number digits 1-6.
The robot numerals 1-6 have already been written into the robot, so the focus is on visual recognition and naming the digits rather than number formation.
Play this version of the robot colouring subitising game as a race with a partner or individually.
- Player 1 rolls the dice and colours in the corresponding shape and then all the times they can see that number on their sheet only. Player 1 says the number before they can colour it in. They colour in as many of the same number as they can see.
- Player 2 rolls the dice and does the same.
- If you roll a number and it is already coloured in, you miss a turn.
- The game continues until all the robot is coloured in. The winner is the person who colours their robot in first!

Robot Colouring Game 2
This version of the game is almost the same as the version above. It is a template for practicing reading and saying numbers 1-6. It also helps students with standard dice subitising (seeing how many, without counting) Read more about subitising here…
- In this version of the math game the robot picture does not have any of the numerals 1-6 written onto the template. The focus of this number recognition game game is on visual number recognition, naming the digits 1-6, and writing the matching digits.
How To Play
- The game is played the same as above.
- Player 1 rolls the dice and colours in the corresponding shape and then all the times they can see that number on their sheet only. Player 1 says and writes the number before they can colour it in. They colour in as many of the same number as they can see.
- Player 2 rolls the dice and does the same.

Robot Colouring in Game 3
Game 3 is a fun number recognition activity that can be used for independent work. This number recognition game will help students to recognise and say numerals 0-10 in sequence (forwards or backwards). Students recognise and colour numbers 0-10 in this version.
How To Play
The child chooses to count forwards or backwards, selects a colour for each number and completes the robot. As each number is coloured in the child encourage the child to talk about the numbers using the following prompts:
- ” This is number __ , the number after __ is. It is more/less than/ bigger/smaller than ___”. (depending on if counting backwards or forwards)
- or “The next number is ___ “Or “The number before ___ was ___.”
- You can also discuss the counting pattern connecting the idea that all numbers are made from 0-10.
- You could use a 11 sided dice or 2 x 6 sided dice if you want to play it in pairs.
Robot Math Game 4
Recognise, Write & Colour Numbers Any Numbers
Game 4 can be for independent work to help students to recognise and say any numerals in sequence (forwards or backwards). You could even use it for skip counting or number fact (times – table) number sequences. Or you could the template to focus on number reversals, or even decade ‘sticking’ points, 109- 110, 199- 200, 90-89, or even the teens! It’s up to you!
