Our Initial Digraph Crowns Literacy Resource BUNDLE {SH-CH-WH-Th} is a fun literacy bundle for teaching consonant digraphs. This bundle of crown activities will help your students learn all about words beginning with ‘Wh, ‘Sh’, ‘Ch’, ‘Th’
Digraphs and blends can easily be confused because both consist of two letters to make a sound.
But the difference between a digraph and blend is that in a digraph, we cannot hear both letters. For example, when we see the letters ‘ch’ together, we know that it makes a ‘ch’ sound. This bundle of initial or beginning digraph activities will help your students learn digraph sounds CH-SH-Wh-Th
We added in some fine motor sensory play to this activity by creating a fun gem themed play tray. It made a very engaging literacy center!
Initial Digraph Crowns Literacy Resource BUNDLE Play Tray
To make a Sensory Play Tray for these Initial Digraph Crowns we:
- Added party gems to a tray and made a laminated version of the crown, adding velcro so the gems could be stuck/removed on the crown.
- Printed the colour versions of the ‘wh, ‘sh’, ‘ch’, ‘th’ gem images, laminated and added velcro to the back and added them to the play tray.
- Students used tweezers to pull out the ‘wh, ‘sh’, ‘ch’, ‘th’ words from the play tray and attached them to the crown
- Then they traced over the words with a dry erase pen
- The crown was assembled for wearing! (see cover image)
